Birch Clearance - 2018

Continued with project to thin the birches from the area off Cygnet path – opp. the previously worked area on the left down to the 1st bench.

We have left the trees adjacent to the path edge for aesthetic  reasons  - we can clear these at the end of this task if we need to [ this was done]

23.01.18 continued thinning the birch.

20.02.18  Felled another 10-12 birches in the area where we've been working since Xmas. 

 Several left as 3-4' high stumps for final removal by contractor.  Brash and trunks laid on either side of the path but not all trees cleared as rain got too heavy to complete the work.

There are probably about 6 more birches left in the area that we've been clearing.Tuesday 6th March -  Further felling of birches if they have not been cleared by the contractor.  If the contractor has been before 6/3, there will presumably be some brash clearance to complete here and elsewhere in the Wood.

Noted that contractor had felled the marked tree inside the main entrance.  The rest of the safety jobs were not checked.
 
There are more birches left in the area that we've been clearing, but several are too big for bow-saws.
