Activities

Coppicing

Swan and Cygnet Woods

Coppicing is our main winter activity, involving the careful cutting of selected trees to ground level in winter, thus encouraging new and vigorous growth in spring to ensure healthy regeneration. The increased sunlight reaching the woodland floor results in an explosion of wild flowers, more insect activity and the creation of varied habitiats to support wildlife.

Tree Planting

From time to time the group will plant new trees.
In March 2022, the group planted circa 55 Hazel plants with their shelters & posts
