Visit of Vriezenveen to Ingatestone - 3rd - 5th
June 2005
We were pleased to welcome a party of 18 from The Rotary Club of Vriezenveen
including:
Wim and Henriette Bots, Joep and Ina Gierveld, Wim and Marin Haandrikman,
President Wim and Annet Hegeman, Niek and Marja Hostee, Bert and Alice Hospers,
Bas and Diny Keijzer, Klaas and Marion Palstra and Gerard and Marlies Vaes.
Mike Allen, our International Chairman, had prepared a full schedule and a
very professional booklet outlining the arrangements. The chosen arrival point
was "The Spread Eagle" pub at Margaretting, where we enjoyed a few
beers and some sandwiches before our visitors departed with their respective
hosts.
On Saturday morning we visited Audley End House and Gardens in North Essex.
We toured the many rooms in the house and interest was shown in the history
& artefacts. Lunch was taken in the restaurant. On our drive home, many of
us were fortunate to witness Morris Dancers performing in Thaxted.
Our evening was arranged at The White Horse Pub in Pleshey. We had an
excellent meal and entertainment was provided by 'The Downholme' Traditional
Jazz Band
After much fellowship and laughter over the weekend, it was time to catch
the early ferry from Harwich, so we had to bid farewell again to our visitors.
We look forward to seeing them in 2006 in Vriezenveen.
